Advocate, Architect, and Lifelong Community Builder
Stephanie Thomas grew up in Chagrin Falls and graduated from the local public high school before attending Pratt Institute in New York City, where she earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree.
She lived and worked in New York City for 18 years, contributing to major projects like the High Line, Eataly, and Barclay Center. But her ultimate goal was always to return home and use her skills to build a stronger and more inclusive Cleveland.
Why She’s Running
I want to bridge the divide between elected officials and the people. I’ve navigated some of life’s hardest struggles. This gives me the perspective and determination to ensure all residents and business of District 3 have the opportunity to thrive.
Family & Values
Stephanie’s family has a long tradition of community stewardship.
Her grandfather, Judge William K. Thomas, served as a federal judge in Northern Ohio and co-founded the Chagrin Falls Park Community Center, a vital resource for low-income neighbors.
Stephanie’s maternal grandfather, Stanley Samad, served as Dean of the University of Akron School of Law and was active in civic organizations.
Both of her parents were active in the Cuyahoga Democratic Party and were invited by President Bill Clinton to his first inauguration.
